Patrol Division

Our highly skilled patrol division is the backbone of the police department. Patrol is initially responsible for all calls and the majority of community contact. In addition to criminal investigations, the patrol division also conducts all traffic enforcement and investigation in the town. 

 

 

Communications

Telecommunications is the nerve center of the department. Be assured that you will get a professional Telecommunicator every time you call for assistance. All of our Telecommunicator's are certified through The State of Connecticut, PowerPhone, and are Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT).  Our fully computerized, central communications center provides police, fire, and emergency medical dispatch for all citizens and visitors of Branford.

 

Investigative Services

The Investigative services unit is headed by Detective Lieutenant William Carroll. I.S.U. or the detective bureau, as it used to be called, conducts most major criminal investigations for the department

 

Youth & School Services

Youth and school services is staffed by a youth officer, a school resource officer and a crime prevention officer.  This functional division is responsible for delivering liaison, support and enforcement services to Branford's school system and the community at large, 

 

Crime Prevention

The Branford Police Department actively participates in Neighborhood Watch by acting as the coordinating agency for the Neighborhood Watch groups in the town.  The Crime Prevention Division also hosts Project KidCare, bicycle registrations, and business / home security surveys.

 

Managerial

Department administration consists of a staff of 5 lieutenants and the management information systems staff. Together, they oversee the daily operations of the police department. The tasks performed by this group of dedicated managers and planners ranges from creating the daily detail and maintaining the physical plant to administering the department's complex computer systems. 

 

Executive

The Branford Police Department is led by the Management team of Chief John DeCarlo and Deputy Chief Thomas Fowler.
