Department
The Branford
Connecticut Police Department
provides public safety services to the community of Branford, CT U.S.A. Branford
has a land area of about 24 square miles and a population of approximately
30,000 residents and is the largest town on the shoreline between New Haven and
New London, Connecticut.
Our agency utilizes
sophisticated computer aided dispatch and crime analysis systems and the latest
advances in mobile computing. We participate fully in U.S. Department
of Justice National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS. The police department
is the town public safety answering point (PSAP) and houses a fully computerized
emergency 911 public safety communications center. Our central
communications division serves as a co-located call for service and
dispatch center for all town emergency agencies.

for our part-time evening academy starting September 5, 2008. All
applications must be submitted by May 31, 2008.


Accreditation
The Branford Police Department is
directed by Chief John C. DeCarlo and
staffed by a team of Connecticut certified, law enforcement professionals. Additional services
provided to the town include a youth division, school resource officer, crime
prevention services, probation liaison, marine section, bicycle officers and domestic violence counseling.
Our department
is proud to be accredited by the Commission on
Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and subscribes to the highest
standards of professionalism in American policing. In addition to CALEA
the Branford Police Department is also accredited by The State of Connecticut
Police Officer Standards and Training Commission..
